What Is Supportive Living?
Learn the difference between Supportive Living and Assisted Living.
Supportive Living and assisted living offer similar services. However, assisted living communities tend to be more costly, and unlike Supportive Living, they do not accept payment from Medicaid. In assisted living communities, residents may be asked to leave if they can no longer afford to pay privately.
Supportive Living is designed to offer Illinois residents who qualify the opportunity to pay through a combination of their own income and Medicaid benefits when they cannot afford to pay privately. This program gives lower-income seniors to opportunity to live independently and affordably in an environment where personal choice, dignity, and individuality are emphasized, and assistance is readily available when needed.
