Board Member Focus: Tom Eertmoed
Tom Eertmoed
Tom is a retired librarian from Illinois Central College doing stints as evening/weekend librarian, coordinator of journals, newspapers, and magazine subscriptions, and day reference librarian. As a librarian for Illinois Central College, both at the East Peoria and Peoria campuses, he enjoyed working with students pursuing every variety of career paths
Tom was born in Pekin, IL, and attended college at Robert Morris College in Carthage, IL and Illinois State University, where he received his Master of Science in Information Science. He has been a resident of Peoria for over 50 years.Tom is married to his wife Sue with whom they have two grandchildren.
Tom states that his church has the center of his life. He has been involved with the Boy Scouts program for many years as a youth and as an adult. Tom was an Eagle Scout, taking trips to Philmont Scout Ranch, National Jamboree, and the Canadian Boundary Waters. He has been a volunteer with the East Bluff Community center since its inception as well, assisting with their food pantry.
Tom states that he has been blessed in many ways to have a healthy, eventful life and feels good that he can contribute back with Graceland Center for Purposeful Aging as well. He states that “Change is always around the corner but I think I can look forward to that also.”
And we are thankful for his service to the Board since the beginning!
