  • Some of you are providing care to a loved one or know someone who is. Caregiving is one of the most difficult tasks to undertake because it is often 24/7 with little ability to take a good solid break away from all the responsibilities. The National Alliance for Caregiving was founded in 1996. Led by founder Gail Gibson Hunt, a group of national organizations came together to meet the needs of caregivers in an aging America. The National Association of Area Agencies on Aging, the American Society on Aging, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs – Office of Geriatrics and Extended Care, Glaxo Wellcome, and the National Council on Aging worked together to create a new association that could address the public policy needs of families and quantify the impact of one of the largest unpaid workforces in our society.
