Graceland Center receives Community Foundation of Central Illinois grant check!

The Community Foundation presenting us with our grant check.

The Community Foundation of Central Illinois presented Graceland with its official grant check from the Emerging Philanthropist Fund. This generous grant will underwrite most of the costs for the Aging with Vitality satellite programs that will be held in September, November, January, March, May, and July in strategic locations throughout Peoria.

After researching the needs of Peoria older adults, the Graceland Center Board of Directors determined that many people are more comfortable attending events closer to home and perhaps attending with their friends from their neighborhood. Graceland applied for the Emerging Philanthropist Grant to obtain funding to assist in the expenses of these outreach efforts.

Each event will be in a familiar location to the residents of the area and will include snacks and beverages, time to mingle and socialize, and then time to learn about the efforts of Graceland Center to create a community-based center for older adults followed by an educational program. Ideas for what participants would like in programming and services will be discussed.

We look forward to encouraging those in the area to become involved and once they understand our purpose, to start attending our weekly events at the Life Together Center.
